The Ganong’s respiroscope consists of a bulb like part and a bent tube. Some germinating seeds are taken in the bulb and mouth of the bent tube is kept immersed in a beaker containing caustic potash(KOH) solution. The respiroscope is fixed in a stand. Thus, the enclosed air in the flask is completely cut off from the outside atmosphere. The apparatus is left undisturbed for a few hours.
